Diana Kilmury (L.155 - ret.) Happy New Year everyone. It's a voice from the past. For those of you too young to remember I was formerly an IBT VP-At Large and a TDU Co-Chair.

I was disappointed with both the outcome and low turnout in the IBT election but I wish to give kudos to all those who participated in our Teamster democracy. This invaluable right was only won after a long and arduous struggle and must never be taken for granted. I urge all of to continue to support the right to vote.

As the old song says, "You never miss the water until the well runs dry". Yes, we have not been able to reachieve the electoral success of the Carey years but we fundamentally changed our union forver by lopping off the tentacles of organized crime that strangled and enslaved our union.

The power of our vote is directly proportional to the energetic excercise of it. So get fit - Join TDU - Flex those democratic muscles - Run for office in your local or as Shop Steward - and never, never give up!
