Hoffa Got a $5000 Raise – Will He Bargain One for You?

James Hoffa got a nice raise in 2017 to $313,989. In addition, the union pays his personal portion of FICA taxes, and gives him a $60,000 “housing allowance” for a total of $390,983. Plus a multi-million dollar pension.

In the past five years, during the life of the ABF and UPS contracts, Hoffa got a raises totaling $8.34 per hour. Remember this, if he tries to sell you short in the upcoming contracts.

This information comes from the 2017 LM-2 financial report just filed by the International union. The 2017 LM-2 reports for the IBT and for locals and joint councils are now available on line.

Each year, the Teamster Rank & File Education and Legal Defense Foundation (TRF) researches all Teamster LM-2 forms (along with IRS Form 990 for the locals of public workers) to make the information available to Teamster members.

You can see the results of last year’s study here. In a few months, we will publish the results for 2017.

Teamsters who want a better future can’t rely on Hoffa – we have to work together to fight for ourselves.
