Kansas City Rejects APWA for the Third Time
August 1, 2008: UPS Freight Teamsters in Kansas City have rejected the Association of Parcel Workers of America for the third time by a vote of 157-58. This outfit is a wrong turn down a blind alley for Teamsters who want positive change.

One has to wonder about this "freak" election: is UPS behind, or "in the shadows" of this "attempted diversion" of representation?
As an active member of the RWDSU for 15 years, and 18 years in two IBT Local Unions, and elected union rep. and officer, I never heard of the APWA in Ohio. So, one might come to the conclusion that they may just be an underhanded "puppet union," used by UPS management to upset/offset the IBT's organizing efforts in Kansas City, contrary to their (UPS) "hands off" representation efforts and agreement with the IBT.
UPS management is not to be trusted, by their past violations of union agreements and State & Federal laws, as proven in the courts, and their underhanded treatment of workers over the years. Their track record (for those who care to research, as I have) proves their continuing obsession with worker abuse, contract and legal violations throughout the USA, and in spite if the wages for full-time workers, has to be ranked in the top 10 of "worst employers" to work for.
Unfortunately, many IBT Local Unions let UPS "slide" on contract and law violations, because Local Union elected officials are afraid and intimidated by the power of UPS management, and afraid of losing dues-paying members if they "rock the boat."
How pathetic it is that elected union officials don't have the backbone to stand up to continuing violations of the National and Local Union Agreements, as well as State & Federal laws.
