What Carhaulers Are Saying

“I love being a Teamster and I have told people with pride of my affiliation. But it has to mean something. And that is we stick together to protect our jobs and our contract.”
Rodney Ewalt, Local 745, PTS—now Jack Cooper, Dallas, Texas

“First they asked us to give up 15 percent of our pay, and now they want us to vote to take away more time from our families.”
Randy Coppert, Allied, Local 710, Chicago

“I’ve been very active the last five years as a steward and committeeman. I’ve always heard TDU was a non-credible left-wing faction but I’ve come to see it differently. I feel the powers that be like Hoffa and Zuckerman are only concerned about the number of dues payers, and not the quality of our Teamster jobs.”
Chuck Newman, Jack Cooper, Local 580, Lansing, Mich.
(Third generation Teamster, second generation carhauler)

“It’s time to take a stand or it’s over for union carhaul. I’ve been a Teamster for over thirty years. I’m proud of being a brother. It’s in my blood. I’m tired of seeing things continue to go backwards. Remember the words ‘United We Stand’? Let’s stand up, brothers and sisters!”
Mike Rinaudo, PMT, Local 287, San Jose, Calif.

I'm a proud member of Local 604 St. Louis. I am also the website administrator at Local 604. I just want to say where would carhaul be if it were not for men like John Thyer. I respect the man immensely. He has endured attack after attack by the IBT and Fred Zuckerman. Yet he goes on fighting for you and me unaffected by the lies Fred and his cronies put together. I am a proud carhauler that has had the privilege of getting to know John over the 12.5 years I have been at Cassens Transport, Fenton, MO. You won't find a stronger leader in the Teamsters today. I have a total 20 Years as a Teamster combined time. I will tell you right now if you are a carhauler or any Teamster any where for that matter you want John in your corner. This Tentative Agreement is inferior and should be considered a cold hard slap in the face by Fred Zuckerman and the TNATINC. What do they think we are stupid or what. Show us the ability to Negotiate a contract Fred, provided you know how. I don't see any evidence of that as yet. Stand United Carhaulers or this could be the beginning of the end to Carhaul Industry as we know it today. VOTE NO! IT'S THE ONLY WAY TO GO! George Hand Teamsters Local 604 St.Louis, MO and proud of it!
