Teamsters at UPS Freight Don’t Get Credit

April 10, 2009: As the one Teamster carrier that has done some hiring, UPS Freight has attracted some experienced Teamster drivers.

Unfortunately, they are learning the bitter truth about a deal made by the Hoffa administration: you get no pension credits in any Teamster pension fund by working there. You start anew in a company fund.

Can this be corrected in the next contract? Not with the present IBT leadership.

Unfortunately, the way that i remember that upsfreight pays a retirement is the same as Overnite Transportation paid before ups bought them out.  Some one correct me if i am wrong, but, i still believe that they take your best 5 consecutive years, then calculate by their formula, with the number of years with the company, and that is what you receive.  Belive me it is next to half or less than half of what the central states pays their retirees.  It is not enough to live off of.  It was a mistake in my opinion to allow ups to buy its way out of central states, and another way to screw the workers, by the company and by the union.
