YRC Says No Cell Phones
March 9, 2010: YRC has issued a company policy saying no cell phones, including hands-free types, may ever be used while operating a YRC vehicle. Most drivers we've talked to have not heard about it yet. We don't know if management intends to enforce this new policy or not, or what the union leadership will do about it. The policy statement indicates that they intend to force drivers to sign it. Since when do Teamsters have to sign individual contracts with YRC? Stay tuned.
YRC's no-cell-phone policy is available here.
They won't enforce it. All they want is to make sure they withdraw themselves from any liability should an accident occur and the driver was charged with using a cell phone
Can you imagine stopping in a "safe place" as a city P$D driver everytime a dispatcher decides to brave a new idea? lol Bills per hour will drop, warning letters will fly blah blah blah...... I have an idea, all the emplyees at YRC need to walk off and let YRC management run their own company, out all day hand unloading freight while a customer is screaming at them about why something is short or busted or run the road all night away from their family putting up with weather and idiots, this way they want have so much time to sit in there office and think up this crap just to justify their position or high dollar pay!!
YRC used to be cool but its not YRC anymore its Roadway, right???
WTF ever!!!

This is a royal mess. YRC provides P&D drivers with cell phone/hand held computers, and dispatch calls us constantly. If we don't answer they write us up. It seems Yrcw's higher authority has no clue whats going on in there day to day operations.
