I am a road driver. Some of the places we bed down are ridiculous. I wouldn’t make my dog lay in them. What rights do I have besides grieve and wait? When we find our own rooms, we get threatened with disciplinary actions. Under Article 49 in the contract, it says the company has to pay $40. Why can’t we get some relief?

New Penn – YRC’s eastern regional carrier -- has proposed a change of operations that will create regional “velocity centers” and replace some road bids with the Utility Employee classification. YRC management has announced they plan to reduce terminals from 384 to 320 by the end of 2020. In comparison, the combined Yellow and Roadway terminals that formed YRC Freight totaled 571 in 2009.Read more

The YRCW contract was ratified by a vote 10,163 Yes to 6,741 No. However, the contract supplement for Western Pa Joint Council 40 was voted down 63 Yes to 68 No. Ernie Soehl, IBT Freight Director, stated that there would be further discussions to address the Joint Council 40 supplement. Retroactive pay and contract implementation will be delayed until the supplement is settled.Read more
