December 5, 2007: I am a road driver. Some of the places we bed down are ridiculous. I wouldn’t make my dog lay in them. What rights do I have besides grieve and wait?

If I’m a steward, do I have the right to demand that another steward sign my grievance? Does that come under “duty of fair representation?”

I am an active member in a local with do-nothing officials. There is no steward in my area for over 200 workers!

When I put in for leave under the Family Medical Leave Act, the company told me that I have to use all my vacation time and personal days.

The union has been weak at my job for a long time. The shop steward and I have been trying to bring members together to enforce the contract. Now management is cracking down.

I filed a grievance demanding that the company pay “all affected workers” who had been denied holiday pay.

In Minneapolis Local 120, many construction Teamsters lose their right to vote because they are on withdrawal card.

My local represents employees who work in the trade show industry in Boston.

Rumor has it that our local officials are looking to merge our local. Do members get a say? Do they have to let us vote?

Dear Mayhem,

We’re being buried in forced overtime because of understaffing. Management is making us work 60 and 70-hour weeks.

When our last contract was negotiated, the BA didn’t tell us the whole story. The local had a meeting where they just told us about the wages and a few other things.

I recently heard that some part-timers at UPS are in Teamster pension plans. As a part-timer I was in the company plan.
