  • May 3, 2010: YRC Worldwide Inc. outlined an overhaul of its board of directors on Friday. The move is part of a deal the trucking carrier struck to entice bondholders to swap debt for equity.


  • April 29, 2010: The IBT is mailing ballots to all ABF Teamsters—active and on layoff—on Friday, April 30, and they will be counted on Monday, May 24.


  • April 20, 2010: As expected, the International Union is recommending that ABF Teamsters ratify a 15 percent wage cut. No changes in Teamster benefits are part of the proposal.


  • April 14, 2010: The sudden departure of YRCW’s President and Chief Operating Officer Timothy Wicks has led to a flurry of speculation in the media, wild rumors fueled by competitors, and some anger among YRC Teamsters.


  • April 13, 2010: Timothy Wicks, president and chief operating officer of YRC Worldwide Inc., has resigned to take a job with his prior employer, United Healthcare.


  • April 13, 2010: A female trucker fired for failing a physical ability test on returning from a work-related injury raised a jury issue of sex discrimination under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act because the plaintiff had successfully performed the job in the past, her injury had healed, and the employer did not require injured male employees to take the test, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit ruled April 9 (Merritt v. Old Dominion Freight Line Inc., 4th Cir., No. 09-1498, 4/9/10).


  • April 9, 2010: April 9, 2010: Bill Zollars, the CEO of YRCW, took a 10 percent salary cut in 2009, according to YRC’s annual report to shareholders.


  • April 6, 2010: The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Friday issued a rule that will require carriers with serious patterns of hours-of-service violations to user electronic on-board recorders in all vehicles.
