At a Loss for Words at Yellow's Closing

by Ryan Haney, Dallas, Local 745

I'm a bit at a loss for words on the closure of Yellow Freight, my employer since 2016.

Most of all, I feel for the co-workers who sacrificed so much to keep this company afloat. Unfortunately, it never was enough to offset the many blunders of management that set this company into its death spiral. They alone hold responsibility for its demise.

All the while, Teamsters at Yellow (especially at my Local 745) maintained a strong culture of unionism and solidarity that was felt every day on the shop floor. I'm forever indebted to my Teamster brothers and sisters for keeping the union as strong as it could be and refusing to get railroaded into the endless cuts and concessions demanded by this company.

I remain hopeful about the overall future of our union. ✊
