Under the O’Brien-Zuckerman administration, reformers who win local union office have received training and support to successfully lead their locals. The Teamsters Convention voted to  approve a change to the IBT Constitution to institutionalize this support for newly-elected leaders.

DHL Teamster and TDU member Holly Wicker from Louisville Local 89 addressed the Teamsters Convention about bargaining to organize -- a winning strategy the Teamsters are using to fight back and win. 

Amazon Teamsters and organizers from New York, Kentucky, Chicago, and California spoke to the Teamsters Convention about the Amazon threat to the Teamsters Union and the labor movement.

The IBT and the Department of Justice filed a joint motion today to amend the Final Order, an agreement that creates an independent system for investigating corruption in the Teamsters Union. 

A bill championed by the Teamsters, the Faster Labor Contracts Act, has passed a vote in the House of Representatives. If passed in the Senate and signed into law, the law will require employers to bargain with organized workers within ten days of their voting to form their union. Take action now to move the bill to the Senate.

The O’Brien Zuckerman Teamsters United slate was elected today as our International Union leadership for the next five years. Congratulations to Sean O’Brien, Fred Zuckerman and the entire OZ Teamsters United team.

Nominated candidates must receive five percent of the vote from Convention Delegates to appear on the ballot in a one-member, one vote election. Only candidates from the OZ Teamsters United Slate met that threshold. 

The XXXI Teamsters Convention is underway and will be held June 15-18. Delegates from every Teamster local will vote on changes to the IBT Constitution and vote on nominations for all 27 International Union officers. TDU’s goals at the Convention are to support O’Brien-Zuckerman Teamsters United, celebrate and promote proven Teamster strategies that are winning for workers, build solidarity, and to elect OZ Teamsters United.

UPS Teamsters who have completed progression will get a raise of $1.22 on August 1, including a 22 cent-cost of living increase (COLA).

The Teamster Independent Investigations Officer (IIO) has issued a report recommending charges against Joe Smith, the principal officer of Delaware Local 326, for illegally driving union-owned cars for more than a decade after getting convicted of a DUI and for lying under oath during the investigation.
