More than 200 Cincinnati Local 100 Teamsters are celebrating a contract campaign victory at Zenith Logistics, a third-party operator for Kroger. Zenith Teamsters ratified the contract unanimously, 118-0. Their new contract includes a nearly $5 raise in the first year and replaces company health coverage with TeamCare.

UPS announced third quarter profits of $2 billion. The company slashed 34,000 operational jobs and Wall Street cheered. UPS shares rose 8%. Make no mistake—this company and its investors don’t give a damn about the Teamsters who create their wealth.

The Independent Election Supervisor has issued an important decision, protecting members and a local union officer from retaliation. Richmond Local 322 principal officer Brian Peyton was cited and fined for retaliating against a union officer because he campaigned on behalf of the O’Brien-Zuckerman slate.

The Rules for the International Union election are out and are being enforced. Filing election protests isn’t bullying. It’s democracy at work.

New legislation has been introduced in the House that would require employers to bargain with newly organized workers within 10 days of voting to form their union.
