The Minnesota state capitol was flooded with hundreds of Teamsters and allies to protect pensions and retirement security.

On March 10, close to 100 Teamster retirees and active members marched on YRC headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas, calling on the company to return to full pension contribution payments to the Central States Pension Fund. 

Retired Teamsters converged on the E Ross Adair Federal building in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Tuesday calling for their Congressional representatives Dan Coats (R-IN), Martin Stutzman (R-IN) and Senator Joe Donnelly (D-IN) to support them in a call for the U.S. Treasury Secretary to reject proposed pension cuts by Central States.

On April 14, Teamsters will rally in Washington to tell political leaders to Save Our Pensions. They are fighting not just for Teamster retirees, but for the pensions of millions of Americans.

Corporate America will do anything for a buck. They’ll move our jobs  to China to lower wages; they’ll move their headquarters to Bermuda to cheat on taxes; they’ll try to destroy our pensions and impose 401Ks to lower costs and shift the risk off of companies and on to retirees.

Rita Lewis, the widow of long- time Cincinnati Local 100 leader Butch Lewis, testified before a Senate Finance Committee hearing today and called on the Senate to address the devastating potential impact of proposed Central States benefit cuts.

Over 70 retirees and spouses met on Saturday just north of the Rio Grande in San Juan, and the hot topic was the fight to defend their Central States pension benefits. These retirees hail from 15 states and 25 different locals.

The huge economic impact that the proposed cuts by the Central States would have on American communities is now detailed for all 435 Congressional Districts.

There was not an empty seat in the house as over one thousand Teamsters packed the Kansas City Convention Center to participate in the last public hearing scheduled by the US Department of Treasury, and hosted by Special Master Kenneth Feinberg.
