The IBT posted a letter from UPS Freight to all locals addressing a range of questions raised by members concerning the recent sale to TFI. The letter confirms that TFI will adhere to contract provisions and pension requirements. Those Teamsters not yet vested in the pension will not lose their accrued time. UPS Freight Teamster members and stewards need to continue to monitor and enforce the contract during the transition. 

Nearly 15,000 Teamsters are concerned for their future, now that UPS has sold off its LTL and trucking operation to TFI International. The International Union was caught by surprise by the move, and hastily held a conference call of local officers to give some answers.

UPS Freight will pay up to ten days of paid leave to Teamsters who are diagnosed with COVID-19, living with someone with COVID-19, or have been quarantined by a government agency, medical professional or by the company.

Excessive subcontracting has been a key issue for members for the past ten years. Both the company and the Hoffa administration claimed a list of positive changes as they promoted ratification of the contract.

The IBT is serving up an insulting “last best and final” offer from UPS Freight for a vote to be conducted by Local Unions on November 9-10-11 with in-person voting. The offer contains zero improvements in the wage proposal, where a five-year tiny increase would cause wages to fall far behind inflation. It offers no real improvement in the subcontracting language.

The IBT and UPS Freight are bargaining this week, as members expect action on the key issues of protecting jobs from subcontracting, wage increases that match inflation, and more.

The strong No vote delivered a message to UPS Freight management. Our leadership may be cozy with you – but we want a good contract. This is our chance to win the contract we deserve.

UPS Freight Teamsters have rejected the pitiful contract negotiated by the Hoffa administration by a vote of 4,255 to 2,601. More than 62% of UPS Freight Teamsters Voted No.
