Proposed Four-Year Carhaul Contract [1]

June 3, 2011: The International Union has announced that they reached a tentative national agreement with the carhaul industry. It would be a 51-month contract, expiring August 31, 2015.

The International Union has not released information, and plans to do so after the June 13 meeting of union officers in Nashville. The issue will then be in the hands of the members, with mail ballots out on about July 5 and counted by the end of July.

Reportedly the proposed contract contains wage increases of slightly more than 1% a year, with a total of approximately $1.35 over the 4 years and 3 months duration.

Teamsters for a Democratic Union (TDU) will provide information on the contract as it becomes available. We encourage all carhaulers to attend their union meeting on the contract, review the proposal, and make an informed decision.

Teamster carhaulers will have the final say via a vote, and have used that power multiple times to send a contract back for improvement. TDU has won the right to have independent Teamster observers at the vote count to help ensure ballot integrity.
