We Won it Today: Rank and File Members on All Bargaining Committees!

TDU has fought for rank-and-file members to be included on contract negotiating committees for decades. Today, the Teamster Constitution was finally amended to make this a reality.

Convention Delegates voted today to amend Article XII of the Teamster Constitution to require rank-and-file members on all contract negotiating committees: both local and national.

We thank OZ-Teamsters United for proposing and passing this important reform for the members.

TDU has championed this reform for years. We have urged it in national contracts. Now it is required for all Teamster contracts.

The new Article XII, Section 1(b) now includes the exact language proposed by the OZ Teamsters United Slate:

“All negotiating committees established and tasked with negotiating collective bargaining agreements between a Local Union and employers shall include rank-and-file members who work under such agreement or, with respect to a first contract, who are members of the bargaining unit that will be covered by such agreement, and they shall have the right to fully participate as members of such committee.”
