Over 140 workers at the Caesars Casino in Southern Indiana just ratified a strong contract after 13 days on strike.
Members struck after the casino, owned by the Eastern Band of Cherokee, refused to meet the union’s reasonable demands for retirement security.
Teamsters Local 89 kept the energy up on the picket line with screening parties of wrestlemania and visits from local elected officials, Teamster leaders and members from across the area, and even the Easter Bunny.
The strike brought members together across different shifts, schedules, and departments to form bonds of solidarity across the whole casino.
The new contract includes significant pay raises, retirement improvements, better protection against discipline, and more.
