The latest LM-2 financial report filed with the Department of Labor shows that the Teamsters paid $63.8 million in strike benefits last year.
That’s 30 times more than the International Union spent on strike benefits per year during Hoffa’s last five years in office.
There have been approximately 350 Teamster strikes since Sean O’Brien and Fred Zuckerman took office in March 2022.
The IBT has been approving enhanced strike benefits of $1,000 a week.
Despite the increased spending on strikes and organizing, the International Union’s net assets are up by $80.5 million for the year. This is largely due to favorable investments on the union’s reserves.
The Teamster Strike and Defense Fund has more than $300 million.
International Union Officer Salaries
Salaries paid to International Union officers are down compared to the Hoffa years.
General President Sean O'Brien was paid a salary of $266,060 in 2025. Hoffa was paid $341,033 in salary in 2021.
Under the Teamster Constitution, no International Officer or International Rep can make more than the General President in total salaries.
Local union officers who do not receive a salary from the International Union are not prohibited from paying themselves more than the General President. But very few make higher salaries from their locals.
International officers’ salaries were increased by 2.7% from 2024 to 2025 under a cost of living provision in the IBT Constitution.
In all, salaries paid to International Union officers were $446,000 lower than what the IBT paid top officers in 2021, the last year of the Hoffa administration.
All of these figures come from the IBT's 2025 LM-2 financial report which includes a complete listing of salaries paid by the International Union.
