UPS can track a package around the globe, but they can’t bother to keep track of their own payroll and pay employees what they’re owed. The company has shorted some Teamsters out of their August 1 wage increase and cost of living adjustment. Here’s how to make sure you’re paid everything you’re owed.

UPS Teamsters who reached seniority by August 1, 2023 were due a wage increase and cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) of $1.22. This includes Teamsters who are covered by a market rate adjustment (MRA).
It’s not that complicated, but UPS management has managed to screw it up.
In some local unions, eligible Teamsters did not get paid their wage increase or their COLA. In other locals, eligible Teamsters got their raise but got shorted the COLA.
Note: Under the contract, employees who reached seniority after August 1, 2023 don’t get the August 1 general wage increases. They get their pay increases on their seniority day under the progression.
Check Your Paycheck and File a Grievance
If you’ve been affected by this problem, talk to your shop steward and business agent and file a grievance.
A grievance can be filed on behalf of affected members. Here is sample wording:
Grievance: Beginning on or about August 1, 2026, the company did not pay the contractual general wage increase of $1 to eligible employees who made seniority by August 1, 2023 and did not pay the COLA of $.22 to eligible employees.
Remedy: Management shall pay the full general wage increase of $1 and the COLA of $.22 to all eligible employees and make them whole in every way, including but not limited to penalty pay if the error is not corrected within two pay periods.
