April 28, 2007: Shareholders of Allied Holdings Inc. claim that billionaire Ron Burkle's Yucaipa Cos. improperly conspired with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters union to gain control of Allied in Bankruptcy Court.
Vermont Local 597 Teamsters rallied and marched at UPS near Burlington to protest management’s refusal to pay out millions of dollars in grievances. Holding signs that said “Time to Pay Up” Local 597 members spoke out about grueling overtime and runaway contract violations.
The Teamsters Independent Investigations Officer, Judge Timothy Hillman, has recommended that charges be filed against Albany Local 294 President Thomas Quackenbush for illegally converting union funds into thousands of dollars in gifts for its retiring principal officer.
