Amazon Drivers Join Teamsters in New York City

Amazon drivers at the company’s DBK1 facility in New York City marched on the boss to demand union recognition and better pay, healthcare, and job security.

The drivers at DBK1 in Woodside, Queens work under Amazon’s Delivery Service Partner subcontracting scheme which Amazon uses to exploit workers and escape liability and accountability.

Amazon Teamsters in New York City are organizing to pass the Delivery Protection Act which would ban subcontracting for deliveries in the city and force companies like Amazon to employ their drivers directly.

UPS’s subcontracting scheme, Roadie, would also be illegal under the bill.

The Delivery Protection Act has supermajority support from the City Council and is backed by Mayor Zohran Mahmdani.

It’s been quite a week at Amazon. More than 500 drivers at two facilities in Southern California demanded that Amazon recognize Teamsters Local 396 as their union.
