YRC Worldwide responds to economic conditions

September 29, 2009: YRC Worldwide Inc. is continuing to make moves to combat a weak economy, including reducing its nonunion work force and amending a credit agreement.

The Overland Park-based trucking firm said Friday that it was making “workforce adjustments across the company in response to economic conditions affecting business volumes.” However, YRC did not disclose how many employees would be affected since the actions were ongoing.

The IBT has launched the Teamster History Project, which includes 27 unedited interviews with Teamsters who made it happen. It covers the years 1975-1999.  Those interviewed include several TDU leaders, participants in the Carey administration, James Hoffa, along with two Hoffa lieutenants who were expelled from the union for corruption and self-dealing.
