Protect Earned Pensions: Act this Week

Now is the time for all Teamsters – active and retired – to contact their Senators to urge that pension protection be included in the new stimulus bill.  Congress will reconvene and negotiate the terms of the new stimulus bill next week. This may be our last, best chance to protect earned pensions for Teamsters and all workers. 

 

central_states_thumb.jpgWithout relief, the Central States Pension Fund will become insolvent and hundreds of thousands of Teamster families will suffer. The stimulus bill will provide funds to many businesses and corporations – it must provide pension protection, too.

Central States Assets Fall – But Relief is Coming!

The assets of the Central States Pension Fund fell to $9.8 at the end of March, a drop of $573 million in the first quarter.  The fund projects forward that it will pay $2.83 billion in pension benefits this year, while taking in $651 million in employer contributions.

TForce Outperforming in Profits
