Union-busting attorney Crystal Carey has been nominated to serve as NLRB General Counsel.
Carey is a partner at Morgan Lewis, the most notorious union-busting law firm in the country. She advises corporations on how to defeat union organizing drives.
Carey has advocated in support of captive audience meetings, which the current NLRB has ruled illegal and advised corporations like Amazon on how to avoid unions by abusing “independent contractor” and “joint employer” schemes.
Carey has even helped employers campaign for the NLRB to be declared unconstitutional.
"Why should someone who actively believes the NLRB is unconstitutional be allowed to serve as its general counsel?" Teamsters General President Sean O'Brien said.
The previous NLRB General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo oversaw substantial pro-worker reforms during her term, including banning captive audience meetings and requiring employers who commit unfair labor practices to bargain with newly unionized workers.
