UPS, Amazon Boss Nominated to Head OSHA

An executive who oversaw safety at UPS and Amazon when both companies were cited for violations has been nominated to head the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

David Keeling has been nominated by President Trump to head OSHA, the government agency that is charged with protecting workplace safety.

Keeling worked as director of safety compliance at UPS from 2011 to 2018.

Next Keeling took a job as a senior safety executive at Amazon, who the Teamsters have criticized for having one of the worst safety records in the country.

In 2019, OSHA cited UPS for fire safety hazards and for forcing Teamster members to work in excessive heat. The company continues to drag its feet on installing air conditioning in trucks.

Teamsters know bosses rarely care about our safety. OSHA is already too weak and toothless. Now more than ever, we need to fight for ourselves.
