Every year, UPS shorts some Teamsters on their August vacation checks. Here’s why you should double check your pay stub and how you can get all the money you’re owed.

UPS issues vacation pay before you take vacation. Every year, some members who take vacation after August 1 get underpaid by UPS because management does not include their wage increase in their vacation pay.
If you achieved seniority by August 1, 2023 and you took vacation the week of August 3 or August 10, make sure to double check your paystub to make sure that your vacation pay rate included the $1.22 increase for the annual wage increase and cost of living adjustment.
If not, file a grievance. Shop stewards and local unions can file a class action grievance on behalf of all affected members. Here is sample wording:
Grievance: The company did not include the contractual general wage increase and COLA of $1.22 in the vacation pay of eligible employees who took vacation beginning on or after August 1, 2026.
Remedy: Management shall pay all eligible employees the full general wage increase of $1 and the COLA of $.22 on all their vacation hours beginning August 1 and make them whole in every way, including but not limited to penalty pay if the error is not corrected within two pay periods.
