Thirteen Teamster officials in Northern California face recommended charges for helping disgraced former IBT Vice President Rome Aloise direct union business while he was suspended from the Teamsters for corruption.

Teamster members at Yellow Freight and Holland are preparing to strike as soon as July 24. The IBT issued the strike notice after Yellow Freight and Holland stiffed the Central States for $50 million in benefit payments that were owed on July 15.

For the first time ever, the Teamster leadership and National Negotiating Team are reporting to members the tentative agreements as they are reached during negotiations. The new tactic doesn’t just mean more information for members, it means more bargaining power.

UPS walked away from the bargaining table around 4 a.m. on Wednesday after the National Negotiating Committee unanimously rejected the company’s latest substandard offer. The National Negotiating Committee has left Washington, DC. Local unions and members are ramping up practice picketing and ready to strike actions.

Yesterday, our union won major victories on three strike issues. UPS will convert all two-tier 22.4s into RPCDs with full pay and rights, establish Martin Luther King Day as a paid holiday, and end forced sixth and seventh punches. Big issues remain as the clock ticks toward the July 5 deadline, but this is huge!

ABF Teamsters have voted to approve a new national contract at ABF, as well as 25 of 27 supplements. Today the Teamsters national negotiating committee and supplemental committees met with ABF and negotiated new tentative agreements for the Western Pickup & Delivery and the Southern Garage supplements. Members in those supplements will vote on revised TAs within the next week.

Today, UPS agreed to put a contract offer on the table by July 5 to give Teamster members time to complete voting on a proposed contract by our strike deadline of August 1.

UPS contract negotiations are coming to a head and the clock is ticking. UPS has two choices. Management can negotiate a tentative agreement that the National Negotiating Committee can recommend to the membership—or the company can strike themselves.
