Teamsters in the Eastern Region who Voted No against Hoffa-Hall contract givebacks and benefit cuts voted for Fred Zuckerman and Teamsters United—and not just at UPS.

The vote count is completed in the East where Hoffa won 62% of the vote in the last election. We gained important ground, cutting Hoffa down to 55% of the vote this time. Now Teamsters United turns to the Southern Region to close the gap. Click here to follow local-by-local results in the South.

The Hoffa-Hall vote is way down in the East compared to the last election, when Hoffa took 62.3% of the Eastern Region vote. The remaining Eastern votes are being counted now. What do the voting trends tell us so far?

The first day of the vote count is over. Hoffa-Hall currently have 53.4% of the vote in the East. Fred Zuckerman Teamsters United have 14,250 votes for 46.6% of the ballots counted so far. The vote count will resume on Tuesday morning. The Eastern Region will be counted, followed by the South. View local-by-local results.

Teamster ballots will be counted this week. As General President Fred Zuckerman will build union power the same way Teamsters United built its campaign: by informing, uniting and mobilizing members. Hoffa-Hall want Teamsters in the dark and toeing the line. That’s why our union is weak and voter turnout is low—and that’s why Hoffa-Hall have to go. 

Corruption investigators noted Ken Hall’s “unusual tolerance” for repeated embezzlement by the Teamsters Political Director Nicole Brener-Schmitz. Now she faces corruption charges and Ken Hall faces questions about why he let it happen. 

In an escalation of the charges against Ken Hall for obstructing investigations into corruption, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bharara has filed court papers denouncing the Hoffa-Hall administration’s actions as “unprecedented and dangerous.”

The secretary-treasurer of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters intentionally withheld documents from officials who are working to root out corruption in the union, an investigator said.
