Kansas City Star: YRC deal erases millions in debt

January 4, 2009: YRC Worldwide Inc. and its employees finally have reason to cheer this New Year's holiday, although the trucking giant still faces challenges.

After multiple deadline extensions, the company wrapped up its much-delayed financial restructuring Thursday and averted a likely bankruptcy. It still faces its seasonally slow winter and unresolved debt payments a few months away.

Central States Assets Fall – But Relief is Coming!

The assets of the Central States Pension Fund fell to $9.8 billion at the end of March, a drop of $573 million in the first quarter.  The fund projects forward that it will pay $2.83 billion in pension benefits this year, while taking in $651 million in employer contributions.
