TDU is uniting Teamsters and retirees together to save our pensions. We won a major victory when the Treasury Department rejected the Central States pension cut plan. But more than 400,000 Teamsters and retirees still face the threat of cuts. We're fighting back. We worked our whole lives for our pensions—now we are working together to defend them. 

TDU has joined forces with AARP, other unions, the Pension Rights Center and labor allies to support pension reform legislation that will strengthen our pension funds and save our benefits.

Michigan Freight Teamsters’ Health Benefits Slashed

July 17, 2006: Effective August 1, all Michigan cartage Teamsters covered by the NMFA will have major cuts in medical coverage, as a result of moneys diverted from their fund to the Central States Pension Fund. U.S. House Passes Pension Protection Bill – Moves on to Senate

Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed HR 397 – the Butch Lewis Pension Act. The vote comes following five years of intensive organizing by hundreds of retired and active Teamsters who worked to protect the pensions they earned. This grassroots effort was spearheaded by the National United Committee to Protect Pensions. The committee eventually garnered the support of the IBT, Central States, and a range of elected representatives. TDU helped initiate this effort in 2014.

UPS Profits Rise; Sunday Delivery Will Start in January

The concessionary UPS contract that was rejected by UPS Teamsters isn’t doing much for the members, but it is paying off for management. In a flurry of press releases over the last 24 hours, UPS announced that profits are rising and the company will use lower-paid 22.4 drivers to make Sunday deliveries starting in January.
