Team Canada IBT Slate is Accredited
The two IBT vice presidents from Canada and the president of Teamsters Canada have petitioned among Canadian Teamsters to accredit the Team Canada Slate in the IBT Election. Yesterday the Election Supervisor reported that they submitted 8,156 petition signatures, far more than the needed number of 2,807 in Canada.

Pension Activists Blitz White House with Calls
The National United Committee to Protect Pensions (NUCPP) is calling on all active and retired Teamsters to blitz the White House today with calls asking the President to support a pension solution and to be sure it's included in any stimulus plan that crosses his desk. They encourage members and retirees call 202-456-1414 to demand support for defending hard earned pensions that are under attack through no fault of working people.
UPS Teamsters Know Split Wages, Split Unions!
At 6:30 AM near Front and Oregon Avenue Philly Teamsters gathered around a 15 foot tall inflatable that the Union calls "Concessions the Cat." Teamsters are protesting a new policy at UPS that will raise the wages of newly hired temporary workers at one facility without providing raises to any other workers. "Split wages, split unions!" shouted Business Agent Tom "Tiny" Callan alongside UPS tractor-trailer drivers, package car drivers, and warehouse workers.
Changes to Number of IBT Regional Vice Presidents
There will be one fewer International VP elected from the Central Region next year, and one additional one in the Western Region, according to IBT figures released on October 8.
4000 Southern California Teamsters Give Strike Notice
Teamsters who work for the major retail Southern California grocery chains have given a 72-hour strike notice, as bargaining continues toward today’s deadline, and perhaps beyond it if no settlement is reached. The 4000 warehouse workers and drivers work for Kroger (includes Ralphs and Food4Less) and Albertsons (includes Vons and Pavilions).
